چکیده
It remains unclear how global climate change affects dioecious plants that may be especially vulnerable to drivers, because they often exhibit skewed sex ratios and eco-physiological specialization in certain microhabitats. In this study, female male saplings of Populus cathayana were employed explore sex-specific responses the effects sexual competition under elevated temperature (ET), CO2 (EC) combination (ETC). The results demonstrated interactively modulated P. cathayana. Moreover, patterns affected treatments. Under both intra- inter-sexual competition, biomass components, photosynthetic parameters carbon-related metabolites females most strongly by ET, while males exhibited a higher photosynthesis resource use efficiency, better accumulation carbon balance mechanism when compared experiencing intra-sexual EC. competitive pressure on was intensified it alleviated ETC. We conclude drivers differently regulate intensity females, which have crucial effect ratios, spatial segregation, production sequestration species future.

Sex‐specific floral morphology, biomass, and phytohormones associated with altitude in dioecious Populus cathayana populations
Relationships between sex-specific floral traits and endogenous phytohormones associated with altitude are unknown particularly in dioecious trees. We thus examined the relationships between floral morphology or biomass and phytohormones in male and female flowers of dioecious Populus cathayana populations along an altitudinal gradient (1,500, 1,600, and 1,700 m above sea level) in the Xiaowuta...
متن کامل[Sexual differences in climatic response of dioecious Populus davidiana tree].
The tree-ring width series and standardized chronologies of Populus davidiana trees in broad-leaved and Korean pine forest in Changbai Mountains were developed separately for male and female trees. Their differential radial growth and their relationship with climatic conditions were analyzed to reveal the effect of gender on radial growth and their climatic responses. It was found that there wa...
متن کاملGenotypic variation in physiological and growth responses of Populus tremuloides to elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration.
Physiological and biomass responses of six genotypes of Populus tremuloides Michx., grown in ambient t (357 micromol mol(-1)) or twice ambient (707 micromol mol(-1)) CO2 concentration ([CO2]) and in low-N or high-N soils, were studied in 1995 and 1996 in northern Lower Michigan, USA. There was a significant CO2 x genotype interaction in photosynthetic responses. Net CO2 assimilation (A) was sig...

متن کاملSex-Related Responses of Populus cathayana Shoots and Roots to AM Fungi and Drought Stress
We investigated the impact of drought and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi on the morphological structure and physiological function of shoots and roots of male and female seedlings of the dioecious plant Populus cathayana Rehder. Pot-grown seedlings were subjected to well watered or water-limiting conditions (drought) and were grown in soil that was either inoculated or not inoculated with th...
